Therapist spotlight
Joe and Brenda Petropolous are experiencing life in a whole new way...they are traveling therapists on assignment for Jacksonville, FL based Medical Methods. Recently they sold their home in Orange Park and are now living in their RV traveling around the state of Florida. Currently on assignment in Orlando, Joe is a PTA working for a 180-bed skilled nursing facility and Brenda, COTA is working at an assisted living facility.
After selling their home in Orange Park, FL and putting their valuables that they would not travel with in storage, they rode off into the great wide open, wide open with opportunity that is. Both Joe and Brenda are enjoying their new lifestyle and variety of work options.
Joe and Brenda have been planning their career as travelers for two years and when it came time to decide what travel company to go with, it was an easy decision for them. Joe had talked with another therapists' and they referred Medical Methods. "You can trust what other therapists have to say about travel companies and their experiences. I trusted them, so I gave Medical Methods a call and the rest is history."
Most every therapist knows about the travel opportunity, it has been a hot industry for 9 or 10 years, according to Joe. "You hear about the glamour, money, and I wanted to give it a try," he confessed.
Joe is happy with his opportunity to travel and values his relationship with the folks at Medical Methods. "The entire staff is professional and go the extra mile. My recruiter Dean Medley even called me on my birthday to wish me a good day," said Joe. "I know if I ever have any issues with my job or contract and Dean can't help me, I can call and talk with Clint or Chad, the owners. That is reassuring."
Joe and Brenda like the idea that they can be with their family while still working. "We have three kids and our grandchildren are here in Florida, that's why we chose to stay in the state: for now anyway.
"Traveling is a big change... I kind of like it. You just have to get used to a different way of life," Joe stated. "It is a lot different knowing that I can't tinker with the house, Brenda and I both enjoyed home improvement projects. Now we will find new projects and we do have friends that are RV'ers, so we always have encouragement."
"Most work contracts are thirteen weeks, I can handle any assignment for that length of time," said Joe. "If we are really enjoying where we are we can always extend the contract."
Joe and Brenda are adapting just fine to their new life adjustment from living in a house to their 36ft. RV a couple of weeks at a time!
